PRESIDENT ADDRESS

The need for this College to have a reliable, effective and attractive web presence was being increasingly felt with the online technology becoming an important part of the educational process. This is a historic moment for us. This website on the one hand will enable the faculty, the students, the guardians, the alumni and the well wishers to connect with the College all year round for interaction and on the other the effective Cyber presence will serve the purpose of allowing interested persons look up information about the College.

Islam attaches much importance to acquiring knowledge and education.

“Read in the name of thy lord who created, Read in the name of the Lord who taught human being what he knew not”

The above are the words from the first verse of the Holy Quran revealed to the Prophet. The Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) said that acquiring of knowledge is incumbent upon the Muslims both men & women without discrimination.

Education is thus the starting point of every successful human activity. Unfortunately, the Muslims in the region lagged educationally far behind.
Way back in the early seventies some enlightened members of the Muslim community considered the plight of the community and formed an organisation by the name of Milli Educational Organisation to work for their educational upliftment. Giving affordable education to the weaker section of the community was the primary focus of the attention of the founders of the organisation.

Their first goal was to address the educational needs of the Muslim womenfolk. The Milli Al Ameen College (for Girls) was thus setup with the active co-operation and contribution from the community and the Al-Ameen Educational Society of Bangalore.

It was accorded affiliation by the University of Calcutta in the year 2000 after the State Govt. approved the proposal for the establishment of the College.

The College now stands as a recognised minority educational institution. It aims at imparting general education, disseminating knowledge, inculcating human values and discipline and developing the total personality of the students to make them enlightened citizens of India and initiators of social development in the Community. The College also believes in propagating secular values that enable the students to adjust harmoniously in a pluralistic society.

Over the years, the College has built up an impressive infrastructure. It includes a well-stocked Library, Science laboratories, Computer laboratory and an auditorium which is being renovated so as to be fitted with latest acoustic and lighting systems and a magnificent stage.
Besides we are striving to add more teachers, start new courses & use the idle hours of the premises for outreach programme and student help programme to provide the students from the backward families, all such facilities which will enable them to achieve better educational grades.
For us “Educating a man is educating an individual. Educating a woman is educating a generation”.
