MS.
SHABINA NISHAT OMAR is Teacher-in-Charge and Head, Department
of English at Milli Al-Ameen College (for Girls), Kolkata. She
joined this college in 2000 and her core competences lie in
teaching of British and American and Indian Literature. An alumnus
of Loreto College, Calcutta she has been felicitated with the
Alumni Achievement Award during the centenary celebrations of the
college, she has won great acclaim for her publications in several
national and international books and journals. She completed her
M.A. in English from Calcutta University and her M.Phil.
dissertation is on “Shakespearean Comedy” and her Ph.d on “Indian
Drama in English.” She has authored a book entitled “A Study of
Virgil’s Aeneid.” She was felicitated for her outstanding academic
achievement as topper of M.A. from Calcutta University by ELLA
(English Language Lovers Association), West Bengal and was the
youngest academician to be nominated for the International Visitor
Program in 2003 by the U.S. Department of State and visited many
universities of the U.S.A. including Harvard and Georgetown. She
has successfully completed a capacity building course in
educational administration from the National University of
Educational Planning & Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi. Her
experience in educational administration as well as teaching makes
her a valuable resource person for social and academic input to
study groups and NGOs on education and social welfare. She has a
wide experience of conducting and participating in various
international and national and state-level UGC seminars, workshops
and refresher courses and international conferences on a variety
of topics related to English Language and Literature Learning and
Teaching. She has guided and mentored numerous students towards
academic excellence and co-curricular activities. |
Ms. ZARRIN SATTAR completed her M.A from
Calcutta University in Political Science and has been teaching in
this college since September 2003. Her service was regularized by
the DPI, Government of West Bengal in 2012. In addition to
teaching Political Science, she also guides the students in their
co-curricular activities integral to her Department and has
actively organized the Youth Parliament Competition, Govt. of West
Bengal. for college students held under the Ministry of
Parliamentary Affairs. She has also been working as Faculty Member
of E.C.C teaching Indian Polity to W.B.C.S aspirants. She has
supported the co-curricular activities of the college by involving
the students in cultural programmes.
Mrs. ANTALINA KAR completed her M.Sc. in Botany (C.U.) with
special paper “Plant Ecology”. B. ED from West Bengal State
University in 2009-10. She joined this college as Part-time
teacher in 2nd July, 2010. Her service was regularized by the DPI,
Government of West Bengal in 2012. In addition to teaching Botany
she also takes the ENVS classes and guides the students in their
project work. She has supported the co-curricular activities of
the college by involving the students in cultural programmes.
Dr. BHABANI DHAR, M.Sc., Ph.d.(Chemistry) joined the
college in 2010 .Her service was regularized by the DPI,
Government of West Bengal in 2012. She has many papers published
in national and international journals and has been the co-author
of a book for technical courses. In addition to taking classes in
Chemistry in both the Pure Science and Bio – Science courses of
B.Sc. General, she takes classes in Environmental Studies and
actively participates to give shape to the Environmental projects
of the final year students. She has supported the co-curricular
activities of the college by involving the students in seminars
and cultural programmes.
Dr. PAPIYA LAHIRI completed her M.Sc., Ph.D.(Zoology) and
joined this college in 2010. Her service was regularized by the
DPI, Government of West Bengal in 2012.Her topic of research has
been :” Studies on Peroxidase & Iodinating Enzymes in Kidney
fishes” and her Post-Doctoral work has been as Pool Officer in the
Scientist Pool (C.S.I.R) on Neuro endocrines with special
reference to thyroidal hormone bio – synthesis. She has widely
published numerous papers in both national and international
journals. In addition to taking classes in Zoology in the B.Sc.
General Course, she takes classes in Environmental Studies and
guides the Environmental Studies projects of the final year
students.
Mrs. ROUNAQUE SABA completed her M.A. in Geography from
Calcutta University and has been working in this college from
2006. Her service was regularized by the DPI, Government of West
Bengal in 2012. In addition to taking classes in Geography for the
B.A. course she has also conducted field trips and excursions to
Taki, Lakshmikantapur, Rajarhat, Bishnupur for the girls as part
of the compulsory C.U. fieldwork. She has supported the
co-curricular activities of the college by involving the students
in cultural programmes.
Ms. NAGHMA AHMED joined this college as Lecturer in History
in July 2008 Her Acting service was regularized by the D.P.I,
Govt. of West Bengal in 2012 She is now the Examination Convenor
of the college from April 2012 onwards in She has been previously
associated as faculty member in Maulana Azad National Urdu
University and Calcutta Girls College . She has been an active
participant in many state- level and national-level UGC seminars
held across the city. She has supported the co-curricular
activities of the college by involving the students in cultural
programmes. In addition to teaching History, she also takes extra
classes in Islamic History and Culture.
Dr. PRAGATI BANDOPADHYAY completed her M.A. in History from
the University of Kalyani. She also completed “Research Training
Programme” from Centre for Studies in Social Sciences in 1996-97.
Dr. Pragati Bandopadhyay was awarded the Ph.D. in 2007 on
“Communalism and Bengal Politics (1929-1947)”. She joined this
college in 2008 as Lecturer in History and her service was
regularized by the D.P.I., Govt. Of West Bengal in 2012. She has
actively participated in numerous conferences and seminars with
her presentations and papers on various topics and has 11
publications in various journals and books. Dr. Pragati
Bandopadhyay has supported the co-curricular activity of the
college by involving the students in the state level quiz in2012
and 2013. In addition to teaching History, she also takes extra
classes in Islamic History and Culture. |
